Electrical Engineer – Columbia, SC

Education Level: BS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from ABET-accredited institution
GMK is seeking qualified applicants to fulfill the role of a Project Manager, Electrical Design Associate, or Electrical Engineer capable of overseeing projects from conceptual planning through completion of construction as it pertains to electrical power distribution, standby and essential power distribution systems, fire alarm systems, nurse call and other low voltage communications systems, lighting design, and
energy audits and assessments. The successful candidate will perform various project-dependent aspects of integrated electrical design services including:

Program development with Clients for new construction and renovation projects, including preliminary cost planning and scope development, production of contract documents and technical specifications, and construction administration services.

Compliance and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, including local, state and federal ordinances and construction guidelines.

Coordination across disciplines to provide electrical service to equipment furnished by other trades and design professionals.

Design and planning for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage and communications systems design, layout, and technical specifications.

Photometric modeling of interior and exterior lighting systems point-by-point analysis.

Qualifications
The following skills are necessary for a successful candidate:

Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD MEP

Proficient in Visual or AGI Lighting Software
-
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
-
Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic

Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients and consultants
The following skills are not required, but are considered advantageous:
-
Motivated to become a Registered Professional Engineer
-
LEED or GreenGlobes accreditation desirable
