We are proud of our more than a half century of service to clients in the Southeast providing a high level of professional Design and Construction Services.

Our firm has its beginning in Columbia, SC, with three students (Bill Geiger, Don McElveen, and Robert Kennedy) who attended Clemson Agriculture College (now Clemson University), majoring in Architecture and Engineering. Upon completing college and after several years gaining experience in their profession, they came together in 1966 to form a partnership – Geiger, McElveen and Kennedy. Later the name was changed to GMK Associates, Inc., which remains today.

Since the firm’s founding, GMK has gained recognition and awards for excellence in Design and Construction from the American Institute of Architecture and various communities and educational institutions. The firm has also received multiple awards for historic renovation projects.

Today, GMK provides Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Program Management, and Design/Build, which allows for single source of responsibility and seamless transition as the project progresses from beginning to completion.

Our Mission Statement adopted many years ago remains our “Compass” for dealing with our clients today, especially “the commitment to place the Client’s needs before corporate considerations.”

Our motto “Happy Clients equals future work” is as true as
it was more than 50 years ago.
