Katharine Slayden

NCIDQ-Certified Designer

Senior Interior Designer & Senior Living Specialist

Ms. Slayden is a senior interior designer for GMK’s Interiors Division. In this role, she provides oversight and quality assurance for GMK Interior’s Division design projects. She brings team leadership and a critical understanding of senior living and healthcare design, particularly for Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs). Ms. Slayden possesses more than 25 years of experience in the interior design field, 18 of which are with GMK. At GMK, Ms. Slayden has primarily focused on interior designs for large CCRCs. Her knowledge of trends in the senior living arena is extensive, and she has been involved with more than a dozen separate CCRCs and over thirty different senior projects over the years with GMK. Further, Katharine has been critical in the review of CCRC preliminary and final design documents and has ensured all owner criteria are met. She also has been instrumental in the training of incoming Division staff. Ms. Slayden holds a bachelor of science degree in interior design from Winthrop University and a master of fine arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is an NCIDQ Certified Designer, registered in Florida, and a professional member of the International Interior Design Association, as well as a member of the National Association for Female Executives. She has further served as an NCIDQ Exam Writer.
