Mr. Baker offers more than 35 years of experience in the construction management industry (with a focus on K-12 educational facilities), all with GMK Associates. In October of 2019, Mr. Baker became the company’s Board Chairman and President and assumed overall responsibility for GMK’s overall operations and strategic direction. He had previously served as the president of GMK’s architecture, engineering, and construction services divisions. In addition to his current responsibilities as the firm’s chief executive, Mr. Baker’s experience has included oversight and management of multiple large-scale building programs for a series of school districts across the Carolinas and Georgia and has met with outstanding success in growing GMK’s design and construction operations across all three states. For over 25 years, Mr. Baker has also served as the building program director for GMK’s management of the Richmond County Schools Capital Improvement Program in Augusta, Georgia, where GMK has been hired and rehired for six separate 5-year program phases. These contracts represent total construction budgets of over $855 million in new school construction and existing facility renovation. Mr. Baker holds a bachelor of science degree in building science and management from Clemson University and a bachelor of arts degree in church history from Furman University.
