Senior Project Manager

Mr. Cerra serves as a senior project manager within GMK’s construction services division overseeing diverse portfolios of concurrent projects associated with large, multi-year Capital Improvement Programs. He possesses a 29-year track record of successfully developing, leading, managing, and driving projects to construction completion that have totaled over $950 million in project value and have spanned an exceptionally wide range of project classifications and complexity. Over his career, he has managed the delivery of multiple landmark facilities (with individual projects valued in the hundred millions) across the federal/state government, higher education, K-12, healthcare, and commercial markets. Mr. Cerra is highly skilled in implementing all aspects of construction management, including pre-planning, design, preconstruction, scheduling and budget control, construction, and project close-out. He has consistently demonstrated leadership in maintaining a high level of project performance that exceeds quality expectations and adheres to schedule/budget constraints, while stressing a collaborative team environment. Mr. Cerra has been with GMK for over 15 years and has an exceptional record of completing projects on time and within budget as evidenced by numerous accolades received through subcontractor, architect, engineer, and Owner feedback. Key clients served include the Richmond County Board of Education in Georgia, Putnam County Schools in Georgia, Wake County Public Schools in North Carolina, the University of South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, among others. Prior to joining GMK, Mr. Cerra gained extensive experience with major commercial construction contractors within South Carolina and the Washington DC metropolitan region. Mr. Cerra is presently both a licensed general contractor and certified construction manager in the state of South Carolina. He is also designated as a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) through the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and a Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) through the Construction Management Association of America. He holds an associate of applied science degree from Northern Virginia Community College and a bachelor of science degree in Engineering Technology and Construction Management from Old Dominion University.
