As a project manager in GMK’s design-build division with more than 22 years of construction industry experience, Mr. Powers is a team-driven leader focused on fostering positive working relationships among Owners, architecture/engineering design teams, construction subcontractors, and other key project stakeholders. He is highly experienced in managing new construction and renovation projects, primarily for governmental, big box retail, and other commercial clients. He is adept in managing construction contracts, purchase orders, bidding documents, submittals, schedules, RFIs, pay applications, and closeout documents for each project under his purview. Mr. Powers’ key duties further include developing and controlling construction project schedules/budgets, monitoring and supervising onsite construction progress, implementing effective onsite safety measures, and successfully coordinating with project superintendents and subcontractor personnel to ensure quality project outcomes. Prior to joining GMK, Mr. Powers served as a senior project manager, project manager, and project superintendent for several General Contractors operating throughout South Carolina, including a firm that specializes in historic restoration and masonry. He studied Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina and was an editor and videographer for the NBC affiliate in Columbia (WIS-TV) for 5 years prior to beginning his career in construction.
