Johnathan E. Hendrix, PE
Senior Design-Build Construction Manager

Mr. Hendrix is a highly skilled and innovative project and program management professional with over 25 years of experience in managing and overseeing complex infrastructure and vertical construction projects. He joined GMK in early 2022 to manage the firm’s design-build construction project portfolio by collaborating with individual design-build project managers, assisting with the development of realistic project budgets/schedules, and coordinating the successful completion of complex construction assignments aligned with Owner/stakeholder and company expectations. Mr. Hendrix has an impressive construction industry track record that spans multi-billion-dollar program/project management, military installation master planning/programming, facilities maintenance, civil engineering, and environmental management, both within the private sector and while serving in the United States Air Force. This experience includes leading multiple master planning efforts to develop mission-critical airbase infrastructure and facilities in the Middle East, Southwest Asia, and Central Asia, among other management assignments stateside. His most recent assignment prior to joining GMK was serving as senior program manager for a $1.8-billion base development in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where he closely coordinated design and construction efforts among civilian A/E firms, the US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force stakeholders, and high-level government representatives from both the US and UAE.

 

Mr. Hendrix is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina and a member of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). He holds a master of science degree in engineering and environmental management from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. Mr. Hendrix’s military service spans more than 25 years and includes serving as a Civil Engineer Officer and achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was also an award-winning professor of aerospace science and adjunct professor of civil engineering at The Citadel where he taught AFROTC classes and held the position of Detachment Commandant of Cadets.
