North Broad Street - Adaptive Reuse Project
On the Boards Vision: Adaptive Reuse Project in Clinton, SC
An adaptive reuse project for an historical building located in downtown Clinton, SC. The approximately 8,000 square foot, 3-story building is in disrepair and will be gutted as well as removing the rear third of the structure. The vision is to create an Event Center that will be used to host various functions throughout the year. The roof will be removed to “open up” the interior of the building while heavy timber bow trusses will be incorporated provide stability for the remaining walls as well as an architectural aesthetic. A mezzanine level structure will be added that will look down into the open area as well as provide a covered area at the ground level within the space. An open stair and elevator will be used to provide access to the mezzanine area. Men’s and women’s ADA toilet rooms will be designed for the ground level. The rear third of the site will be used for a green space with artificial turf grass and fenced with artificial turf screening to soften the pedestrian level impact. The remaining walls and windows will be restored to maintain the historic significance and spirit of the original building. The alley that runs between buildings will be relandscaped and provide a winding pedestrian walk to a fountain that will sit at the alley entrance to the Event Space.
