  • GMK planned, designed and built a seven-story, 244,000-square-foot addition to the existing five-story Women’s Pavilion (which was originally completed by GMK in 1992 and designed for this vertical expansion eventuality). The addition of two Seismic Support Cores enabled I.B.C. compliance. The lower five floors remained occupied and operational during construction of the patient tower above.

  • Included in the new space: 140 new beds with a trauma surgical intensive care unit, step down unit and surgical patient area; replacement of 12 existing operating rooms and addition of four new operating rooms; complete new central processing and staff support services. Women’s Services and the Children’s Hospital remained on the lower five levels.
